The Most Read Stories of 2021
Tuesday, December 14, 2021 | Comments
Standards work and new communications technology innovations were at the top of mind for MissionCritical Communications readers during 2021, as those stories were sprinkled throughout the most read stories of 2021.

The most read story of the year was John Facella’s look at the new NFPA 1802 standard, which redefined the requirements for portable radios used by emergency services in hazardous areas. Readers were also very interested in the ongoing Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) work.

Readers continued to be interested in the state of Florida’s ongoing search to replace its Statewide Law Enforcement Radio Service (SLERS) network. That search came to an end earlier this year, when the state legislature directed the Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) to award the contract to L3Harris, which was our second most read story of the year.

Readers were also interested in a variety of FCC proceedings that occurred around the year, including the FCC allowing unlicensed use in the 6 GHz band, 9-1-1 outage notifications, 800 MHz rebanding and spectrum sharing.
