Radio Activity will become a wholly owned subsidiary of JVCKENWOOD in January. Radio Activity is recognized for its technological capabilities and expertise, particularly in-building simulcast DMR networks.
“This acquisition further supports our expansion in DMR digital radio system solutions,” said Mark Jasin, executive vice president of JVCKENWOOD USA. “As more users turn to digital radio technology, particularly in private radio enterprise segments where spectrum is constrained, Tier 3 trunking and simulcast provide a necessary option for wide-area coverage required by utilities, manufacturing and other industrial users. This acquisition of advanced DMR technology blended into our digital portfolio of NEXEDGE-NXDN, Project 25 (P25) and Long Term Evolution (LTE) position JVCKENWOOD as the worldwide leader of digital communications solutions for enterprise and public safety.”
Last year, JVCKENWOOD USA launched a DMR product line in the United States. Earlier this year, JVCKENWOOD invested in LTE rugged smartphone maker Sonim Technologies.
The company boosted its offerings in P25 technology with the acquisition of EF Johnson Technologies in 2014. JVCKENWOOD also owns console and emergency number software provider Zetron.
Radio Activity has completed DMR interoperability testing with Sepura, Hytera and Motorola Solutions and is a member of the DMR Association.
