Tuesday, October 14, 2014 | Comments

JVCKenwood announced a new portable radio that operates on the NEXEDGE protocol, as well as the Project 25 (P25) standard. The radio offers multiprotocol operation in P25 Phase 1 and 2, NXDN and analog protocols.

The radio is the first on the market to include two digital standards in one unit, said industry insiders.

The NX 5200, 5300 and 5400 model portable radios can operate in VHF, UHF and the 700 and 800 MHz bands. Mixed digital and FM analog operation allows intelligent migration in mixed sites and easy migration with digital radios in other sites. In the P25 mode, the radio provides talk group and individual ID lists, caller ID display, remote monitor and check, and radio inhibit.
