Federal Signal acquired the business and assets of Birmingham, Mich.-based Codespear, a privately held developer of public-safety interoperability and alerting software. The company acquired Codespear for about $17 million, and the transaction is expected to be slightly accretive in 2007. Federal Signal's said the acquisition added to its expanding suite of integrated security and well-being solutions. Codespear will be integrated into Federal Signal's safety and security systems group, and the communications technology will be leveraged across Federal Signal's enterprise-wide portfolio.
