Sepura completed the acquisition of Teltronic, the Spanish professional mobile radio (PMR) company. Earlier this month, Sepura entered a conditional agreement to acquire Teltronic, which operates as PowerTrunk in North America, for 127.5 million euros (US$144.5 million).

The combined complementary product offering, market reach and geographical reach of the two organizations will enhance the Sepura group’s position as a leading global provider of critical communications solutions for the PMR market and help the enlarged group meet its core strategic objectives, the company said in a statement.

In particular, the enlarged group will command an increased share in its existing vertical and geographical markets and accelerate its entry into new markets. The combination of Sepura’s complete solution portfolio and Teltronic’s network infrastructure will also enable the group to achieve leadership in TETRA with a broader infrastructure offering.

“This is a highly complementary and transformational acquisition, which will be immediately earnings enhancing,” said Gordon Watling CEO of Sepura. “It brings together two of the market’s fastest growing players to create a leading digital PMR company with a broader offering and significantly enhanced capabilities.

“Teltronic’s business will diversify our geographical reach, growing our footprint in Latin America and strengthening our existing presence in North America, specifically the U.S.; whilst expanding and diversifying our revenue streams accordingly. As the number and scale of digital radio networks around the world increases, we will have the breadth of portfolio and financial strength to compete for a significantly larger number of new contracts globally.”
