NEAD Invites Vendor Presentations for National Emergency Address Database
Friday, September 11, 2015 | Comments

NEAD is inviting interested vendors to present their views for the National Emergency Address Database (NEAD). The NEAD is an independent entity of CTIA established to work with database and 9-1-1 communications systems experts to develop and operate the NEAD.

The efforts are to help comply with the FCC’s new location accuracy rules aimed at improving wireless 9-1-1 location accuracy for indoor environments. The NEAD will help enable wireless providers to deliver a dispatchable location, such as street address plus other relevant information including floor or room numbers, to 9-1-1 call centers with a wireless 9-1-1 call.

To develop a request for proposals (RFP) to develop and operate the NEAD, vendor presentations will help understand how database and 9-1-1 communication systems experts view the NEAD.

Interested parties may access details as to how to schedule presentation time with the NEAD Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) at the following link: Presentation times will be available Sept. 18 to Oct. 2. The identity of organizations presenting will be made public, and the presentation material will remain confidential to the NEAD.
