Damm Terminates North American Agreement with Sepura

Damm Cellular Systems terminated its exclusive agreement with Sepura for marketing and sales of Damm products in United States and Canada.

Damm will pursue new business opportunities in the region and establish local presence through authorized system partners working with professional radio communications. The termination is the natural result of the business consolidations and strategic alliances that have been taking place within critical communications, a Damm statement said.

In 2013, Sepura and Damm announced a partnership for North America, including 800 MHz equipment. Sepura purchased Teltronic and its North American subsidiary PowerTrunk, an active player in the U.S. and Canadian TETRA markets, last year.

“We see a great business potential for mission-critical as well as business-critical communications in the United States and Canada,” said Kjeld Pharao, CEO at Damm. “There is a growing range of businesses that need secure and reliable communications. With the new Damm platform covering TETRA, TETRA Enhanced Data Service (TEDS) as well as Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) in one system, we make unified critical communications easy for the benefit of partners as well as customers.”

Lots of bad blood between the European radio companies. This does not surprise me; what surprises me is that it has lasted this long.

Did they even sell anything together in the U.S.?
