San Francisco Honors Dispatcher to Celebrate Telecommunicators Week
Tuesday, April 12, 2016 | Comments

San Francisco honored public-safety dispatcher Natalie Elicetche as dispatcher of the year to help showcase National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW).

While serving as a call-taker in San Francisco’s 9-1-1 operations center, Elicetche fielded a call from a San Francisco resident who reported the possibility of multiple murders in Tennessee. Elicetche acted decisively and contacted local authorities in Tennessee, which led to the discovery of the crime scene and a next-day arrest of the murder suspect.

Dispatchers act as the communications hub for emergency services and must quickly assess situations and send appropriate help. San Francisco’s 9-1-1 dispatchers manage more than 1.2 million emergency and non-emergency calls per year.

Fellow dispatchers select San Francisco’s dispatcher of the year for extraordinary performance while answering 9-1-1 calls or dispatching emergency services.
