Eight police departments and six university campuses deployed power technology from Impact Power Technologies (IPT) that the company said maximizes LMR performance. Agency officials said LifeSaver series batteries consistently last 20 – 40 hours on a single charge, depending on the types of radios used.

IPT won its third bid with the city of Boston Police Department for 200 more batteries, bringing the total to date to more than 1,000. Miami Beach (Florida) Police Department purchased 300 additional 8610 batteries, reaching a total of about 700. Sarasota (Florida) Police Department ordered 200 in addition to the previous 500-piece order of batteries. Four additional agencies ordered IPT products.

On the campus safety side, Tulane University added IPT replacement batteries for radios that its security and police divisions use. Duke University, University of North Carolina, Brigham Young University, University of Chicago and the University of North Texas also expanded battery replacements.
