Sepura supplied, installed and commissioned a complete TETRA system for the public transport network of Pasto Municipality, Colombia. The project, awarded by LG CNS on behalf of Avante SEPT, forms part of an initiative to equip the country’s major cities with integrated public transportation systems.

The solution, comprising TETRA infrastructure, a fleet management and control center, and more than 550 mobile and portable radios, forms part of a networkwide fleet control and management system, designed to optimize service and reduce traveling and waiting times.

In addition to managing communications between all staff on the network, the system provides near-real-time information, such as location, alarms or events, which, in conjunction with an intelligent transportation system (ITS), allows the redeployment of resources to minimize delays, as well as provide up-to-date passenger information via the passenger information system.

“This solution will boost operational efficiency and significantly enhance the overall passenger experience,” said Jairo Gómez, Sepura’s country manager for Colombia. “TETRA is just taking off in Colombia, and of the eight contracts awarded to date, we have been selected to participate in six. This reaffirms our market-leading position not only in this territory, but in the provision of critical communications worldwide.”
