Wicker Named Chair of Senate Communications Subcommittee

Sen. John Thune, chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, announced the chairs of the six subcommittees in the 115th Congress.

Sen. Roger Wicker from Mississippi will serve as chairman of the Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation and the Internet. The subcommittee has held hearings on the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) and 9-1-1 location and wireless 9-1-1, among other public-safety communications issues.

“We’re ready to hit the ground running in the first 100 days of Congress, starting with [Transportation] Secretary [Elaine] Chao’s nomination hearing this week,” Thune said in a statement.
