DFW Airport Selects EFJohnson P25, ESChat PTT over LTE

EF Johnson Technologies, a JVCKENWOOD company, selected the ESChat application from SLA for a secure push to talk (PTT) over Long Term Evolution (LTE) system for use at the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport.

The order includes ESChat servers that will be hosted at DFW and collocated with EFJohnson’s Project 25 (P25) system. The system will provide encrypted voice communication between LTE smartphone users and the P25 radio users via the P25 Inter RF Subsystem System Interface (ISSI).

The DFW deployment includes the following standard features of ESChat: encrypted PTT voice, encrypted multimedia messaging, and live location tracking and mapping for all ESChat-enabled cell phones. All ESChat communications are encrypted using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256, the same encryption used in P25, to ensure voice privacy.

The system is staged for deployment at EFJohnson and is scheduled to be installed at the airport in mid-2017. The integrated communications system will also be available for demonstration at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) in Las Vegas March 29 – 30.
