P25 CAP Encryption Document Available
Tuesday, March 21, 2017 | Comments

The Project 25 (P25) Compliance Assessment Program (CAP) encryption requirements compliance assessment bulletin (CAB) is finalized and publicly available.

The CAB aims to stop the practice of manufacturers providing subscriber units with a non-P25 standard encryption without also including P25 standard Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256 encryption.

An accompanying comment matrix outlines the comments received. The new encryption CAB and feedback matrix are here.

Approved grant-eligible equipment documents are in progress for three Viking products, including the VP 600 and 400 VHF, UHF and 700/800 MHz portable radios. The summary test report and suppliers’ declaration of compliance (SDoCs) are going through the administrative review process for web posting and should be posted soon.

A list of fully complaint subscriber products that can be supplied without any installed encryption algorithms or with optional AES 256 encryption capability is here.

A list of subscriber equipment that has been tested to the P25 CAP requirements but is not compliant with the P25 CAP encryption CAB is here.
