Huawei and Frequentis signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the joint development of an open ecosystem for public-safety solutions, in a move set to usher in safer cities. The partnership will span the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Asia Pacific and Latin America regions.

Under the partnership, Huawei and Frequentis will work together to develop a next-generation dispatching solution for command-and-control centers. By supporting features such as seamless integration of consultation and surveillance systems across different agencies, real-time voice and data transmission services, the joint solution will help public-security agencies achieve greater efficiency, while reducing their total cost of ownership for mission-critical IT investments, the companies said.

The partnership is aimed at fostering a flourishing public-safety ecosystem, which will translate into greater levels of safety for citizens, while unlocking efficiencies through innovation for companies operating in the public-safety industry. The partnership is the latest in a long series of partnerships pursued by Huawei aimed at safe cities.

The MOU signed by Huawei and Frequentis outlines the cooperation areas between the two companies. Both will work together on the design, development, validation and packaging of safe city offerings. Frequentis has already set up a demo environment in the Huawei OpenLab in Munich.

“Frequentis is looking forward to combining its skill sets and innovative product portfolio with those of Huawei to provide improved safety-critical solutions representing a true evergreen control center offering to benefit customers worldwide to save lives, protect properties, and maintain public order and safety,” said Johann Schweiger, director global sales, Frequentis.

In addition to this partnership, both companies agreed to initiate a series of cooperation projects worldwide, with a view to enhancing public safety through innovative safe city solutions.
