NRTC selected Silver Spring Networks as an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) provider. Under the agreement, NRTC will offer Silver Spring’s AMI and smart grid applications platform to its electric utility membership.

NRTC represents more than 1,500 rural electric and telephone utilities and affiliates in 48 states, collectively serving about 20 million homes and 50 million residents.

“NRTC’s members require technology that is reliable, cost effective and scalable to meet their current and future needs,” said Tim Bryan, CEO, NRTC. “We look forward to continuing our leadership in helping members build, maintain and enhance communications networks that empower both utility and broadband applications by offering Silver Spring’s high-performance, multiple-application solution on a national scale.”

With more than 25.5 million enabled devices delivered on five continents, Silver Spring works with cooperative, public power and municipal utilities. NRTC has provided smart grid and AMI solutions to its members for 15 years, deploying nearly 3.5 million endpoints using a variety of solutions and technologies.
