Communications International (Ci) announced a contract award by Charlotte County, Florida, to supply and install a new Project 25 (P25) Phases 1 and 2 compliant public-safety radio system.

The county’s new radio system, which replaces its end-of-life system, features a turnkey, seven-site 700 MHz linear simulcast design using Harris P25 technology. Ci’s customized solution also includes the Harris BeOn push-to-talk (PTT) platform for increased situational awareness and fully encrypted communications between cellular phones and other smart devices. In addition, the system design upgrades the county’s emergency dispatch operations with Harris consoles, increasing redundancy and overall dependability.

The new radio system was designed to meet Charlotte County’s rigorous requirements including excellent coverage, increased functionality and high reliability. The new system also provides interoperability with surrounding counties and agencies.

“Charlotte County knew exactly what it wanted to achieve, and we are pleased to deliver a solution that enables them to meet all of their goals by utilizing the latest in public-safety technology to effectively transition their communications from analog to digital,” said Henry Erfurt, director of strategic accounts. “We are grateful to Charlotte County and their selection committee for placing their confidence in Ci. We look forward to working with them not only on this project but for years to come.”

In addition to supplying and installing the system, Ci will also be responsible for its service and ongoing maintenance.
