Hytera Communications received notification from the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy in Germany (BMWi) that it decided to seek to initiate a review of Hytera’s acquisition of Sepura on public policy and/or national security grounds relating to Sepura Deutschland.

Sepura and Hytera are assessing any potential impact of the notification on the completion of the acquisition and will engage with BMWi. A further update will be provided in due course, a statement said.

In April, the U.K. government initiated a review of the acquisition. Separately, Motorola Solutions filed patent infringement complaints with the Regional Court of Düsseldorf in Germany against Hytera Communications of Shenzhen, China, and Hytera Mobilfunk of Bad Munder, Germany, last month.

Hytera offered US$92 million to buy Sepura in December.
