The TCCA has revamped its former Control Rooms Working Group as the International Critical Control Rooms Alliance (ICCRA), chaired by Peter Prater, key account manager with Frequentis. ICCRA’s goal is to become the focus and platform for critical service control room discussion, learning and best practice development.

The group will cover all aspects of control rooms across all vertical markets from public safety to utilities to airports to border protection to banking. The group will target operations and technology but also personnel and environment issues such as ergonomics, staff retention and control room construction.
The group plans to conduct conference calls and online meetings. The current membership has about 140 people including users and industry. Prater estimates there are about 20,000 critical control rooms around the world.
Four special interest groups (SIGs) will target operations, technology, environment and ergonomics, and people and performance, and then establish agendas in their respective areas. George Rice, executive director of the U.S.-based Industry Council for Emergency Response Technologies (iCERT), will lead the technology group. Ged Griffin, visiting fellow at Australian Institute of Polce Management, is the operaitons SIG lead. David Watts, managing director of CCD Design and Ergonomics, is the working environment SIG lead, and Sarah Wilson, a fire and resuce services control room professional, will lead the people SIG.
The group will conducts its first webinars in July and August, followed by a survey in September and a conference in Geneva in December with about 160 – 200 delegates expected, Prater said.
