Teltronic, a subsidiary of Hytera Communications, was awarded a public tender by Metro Madrid to supply further TETRA onboard radio equipment for Madrid Metro, Spain, building on a relationship that began in 2003.

The latest tranche of 78 onboard units, with railway certification, will be integrated in the trains, to allow communications between drivers, control room staff and passengers via a connection with existing public address and intercom systems.

Madrid Metro is the seventh longest in the world, with 301 stations spanning 13 lines and 293 kilometers of track. Metro de Madrid administers the network, with responsibility for maintaining the service quality of the existing infrastructure and optimizing technology to improve the customer experience.

“We have now supplied almost 900 onboard units for Madrid Metro’s transport network, and we are delighted that they have chosen to continue our long-standing collaboration,” said Felipe Sanjuan Pasamar, Teltronic’s business development director for transport.
