Senate Sets Hearing for FCC Nominees
Friday, July 14, 2017 | Comments

U.S. Sen. John Thune, chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, will convene a nomination hearing July 19 for three nominees to the FCC.

“This hearing will continue to advance our committee’s fulfillment of its constitutional charge to consider nominees appointed by the president for federal office,” said Thune. “The FCC has significant responsibilities over one of the most innovative sectors of our economy, and I look forward to asking these qualified nominees about challenges to advancing the public interest.”

Witnesses include Ajit Pai, current FCC chairman to be reappointed the FCC; Jessica Rosenworcel to be reappointed as a commissioner to the FCC; and Brendan Carr to an FCC commissioner. Rosenworcel, a Democrat, was a commissioner at the FCC from 2012 until January 2017 but was not reappointed before her term expired. President Donald Trump renominated Rosenworcel last month, along with Carr to fill the Republican seat on the commission.
