Senate Subcommittee Hearing to Examine FirstNet, AT&T Progress

U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, chairman of the Senate subcommittee on communications, technology, innovation and the internet, will convene a hearing titled “An Update on FirstNet” July 20.

The subcommittee will examine the First Responder Network Authority’s (FirstNet) and AT&T’s progress to date and the anticipated timeline to build, operate and maintain an interoperable nationwide public-safety broadband network as established by the Middle Class Tax Relief And Job Creation Act of 2012.

Witnesses include Curtis Brown, deputy secretary of public safety and homeland security, commonwealth of Virginia; Damon Darsey, assistant professor, University of Mississippi Medical Center; Mark Goldstein, physical issues director, Government Accountability Office (GAO); Michael Poth, CEO, FirstNet; and Chris Sambar, senior vice president, AT&T
