Avtec and Alcon Engenharia de Sistemas were chosen by the PAULISTA Metropolitan Trains Co. (CPTM) to provide a dispatching solution for the railroad’s new suburban metro line 13. Scheduled to begin operations in 2018, the 12.2-kilometer metro line will be the first link between downtown São Paulo and Guarulhos International Airport (GRU), Brazil’s busiest airport.

The Avtec solution, which will consist of seven consoles integrated with an EF Johnson Technologies radio infrastructure via a Project 25 (P25) Digital Fixed Station Interface (DFSI) will provide dispatchers with reliable, systemwide communications.

“Avtec and Alcon are privileged to be part of this important new passenger rail project, with ridership between the center of town and the airport forecasted to be about 120,000 passengers per day,” said Avtec Vice President of Sales for Railway Solutions Joe Oravetz. “With the outstanding service support from Alcon, the system can be expanded very easily to accommodate São Paulo’s future metro passenger service growth and subsequent voice dispatching needs.”
