San Jose Fire Department Relaunches PulsePoint App

The San Jose Fire Department announced it is relaunching the PulsePoint app. PulsePoint is a nonprofit organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area that has built applications through location-aware mobile devices that improve communications with citizens, empowering them to help reduce millions of annual deaths from sudden cardiac arrest.

Deployment of the PulsePoint app can significantly strengthen the “chain of survival” by improving bystander response to cardiac arrest victims and increasing the chance that life-saving steps will be taken prior to the arrival of emergency medical services.

According to the American Heart Association, annual death from sudden cardiac arrest in this country is quoted as around 326,000 or 1,000 day.

That's not quite millions.

Worldwide death from ALL cardiovascular diseases is 17 million — the majority of which CPR is not needed.
