The Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management awarded Zetron a contract to deliver a next-generation 9-1-1 (NG 9-1-1) solution to enhance public-safety services throughout the state of Iowa. The state has 113 public-safety answering points (PSAPs) that will benefit from the upgrade of their systems.

NG 9-1-1 standards, developed by the National Emergency Number Association (NENA), enable the public to send text messages, images, video and data to the 9-1-1 centers in addition to voice calls.

Zetron’s call-taking NG 9-1-1 system will be hosted in geodiverse, environmentally hardened facilities. Zetron will also provide CAD, 9-1-1 mapping, Eventide logging recorders and PowerPhone emergency medical dispatch software. RACOM will deliver the installation, support and maintenance services for the state of Iowa as part of the contract. Implementation is set to begin in 2018.

“We are honored by the award and look forward to helping the state of Iowa execute on their strategy to implement NG 9-1-1,” said Scott French, vice president and general manager, the Americas for Zetron. “We are proud of our commitment to delivering standards-based call-taking solutions as required by NG 9-1-1. Zetron’s MAX call-taking system ensures that the PSAPs of Iowa have the power to respond to emergencies, helping them save lives and protect property.”
