Airbus, along with municipal utility operator Stadtwerke München, will help equip the 54th Munich Security Conference with mission-critical communications technology. The event’s coordinators aim to ensure the security of participants in the field of politics, business and media.

The Airbus combined smartphone and TETRA device will be used for the first time during the event. Special applications were designed for the event and will be put to use on the device to support the event’s proceedings.

A separate base station will be connected to the existing radio network of Stadtwerke München, and another base station will be installed near the Munich airport. The radio system is enhanced with special encryption features.

The radio technology will enable mobile communications for security and conference staff, as well as the German Armed Forces during the conference. In parallel, Stadtwerke München is making TETRA radios available to conference staff members.

The Munich Security Conference, launched in 1963, has become one of the most important conferences in the field of foreign and security policy. Each year, it provides high-ranking policy-makers from all over the world with a forum for discussions of current and future security challenges.
