Viavi reported results for its third fiscal quarter ended March 31.

Net revenue in the quarter was $219.4 million, compared to $196 million from the previous year’s quarter, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) net loss was $8.7 million, or 4 cents per share, compared to $26 million, or 11 cents per share, in the previous year’s quarter. Non-GAAP net income was $29.2 million, or 13 cents per share, compared to $21.9 million, or 9 cents per share in the third quarter of 2017.

Second quarter 2018 net revenue was $201.8 million, and GAAP net loss was $3.7 million or 2 cents per share. Non-GAAP net income for the second quarter was $196 million.

As of March 31, the company held $738 million in total cash and investments. For the fourth quarter, the company expects net revenue between $243 and $267 million and non-GAAP earnings per share to be 8 to 12 cents.

“Viavi exceeded its Q3 non-GAAP operating margin and EPS (earning per share) guidance range, excluding the financial contribution from the acquired business,” said Viavi president and CEO Oleg Khaykin.”Strong performance by both the NSE and OSP business segments drove the results. During the quarter, we completed the acquisition of the AvComm and Wireless Test and Measurement businesses of Cobham. The acquisition is expected to be immediately accretive to non-GAAP earnings in fiscal 4Q, and we are excited about the growth opportunities in the emerging 5G wireless market and AvComm’s military, public-safety and avionics test markets.”
