Florida’s Miami Beach selected Harris to upgrade its analog critical communications network to a new digital Project 25 (P25) network that provides increased reliability and functionality for more than 1,000 first responders. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

Harris will provide an end-to-end digital solution that delivers unified, interoperable communications for voice, data and applications across multiple agencies and simplifies dispatch center operations. The four-site simulcast system will include a network solution, command center dispatch consoles, multiband P25 radios and a push-to-talk (PTT) application.

“We are honored to partner with Harris to provide excellent public service and safety to all who live, work and play in our vibrant, tropical, historic community,” said Melissa Berthier, Miami Beach Office of Communications.

Miami Beach joins other South Florida communities, including Aventura, Coral Gables, the city of Miami and Miami-Dade County, that have chosen Harris’ technology to connect first responders.
