Airbus Demos Virtual Reality, Drone Video

Airbus demonstrated new technology at the Critical Communications World 2018 (CCW) in Berlin.

The company demonstrated a new pilot version of its real-time virtual reality technology. The system allows firefighters and police officers to carry out complex tasks from remote places through a secure communications infrastructure.

During the exhibition, Airbus will simulate a scenario where a firefighter will wear a 360-degree camera in a metro station. From a command center, an officer will virtually step into the situation. The Airbus solution supporting this technology is based on the secure mobile virtual network operator (SMVNO) infrastructure. A secure MVNO provides secure and reliable broadband capacities, from network operators to public-safety agencies.

Airbus will also show real-time videos taken from a drone on its collaboration solution Tactilon Agnet. This proves that on top of providing secure TETRA and Tetrapol network connections, Tactilon Agnet is also fully interoperable with airborne networks. The demo will indicate how Tactilon Agnet can also integrate additional media channels during rescue missions.
