Meeting Participants Discuss Mission-Critical Broadband Testing, Certification
Friday, July 06, 2018 | Comments

TCCA hosted an initial meeting of device manufacturers, application developers, mobile network operators (MNOs) and user agency representatives to share information and ideas regarding testing and certification of future mission-critical broadband products.

Current approaches applicable to consumer devices and products were considered to determine if they could be cost efficiently and effectively applied to the significantly smaller mission-critical market.

The need for global collaboration and information sharing between all interested parties, most especially between noncompeting MNOs entering the mission-critical market, was stressed at the meeting as being a basis upon which a robust testing and certification regime could be achieved for mission-critical products.

Harald Ludwig, chair of TCCA’s Technical Forum, led the meeting, which was held in June in College Station, Texas. Further meetings with the aim of creating a formal interest group to continue the dialogue and collaborate on delivery of an acceptable solution to benefit all stakeholders in the worldwide mission-critical community are planned.

TCCA outlined various testing processes here.
