Utility industry veteran Kathy Nelson joined Ondas Networks as director of technical product marketing and industry relations. She will lead Ondas’ industry relations and product marketing efforts across all industrial verticals including electric utilities, oil and gas, transportation and government.

Ms. Nelson brings 25 years of experience in the deployment of wireless data and voice communications systems for Great River Energy, a wholesale electricity provider. In her former role, Nelson was responsible for the deployment of advanced supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and private LMR systems.

Nelson is a recognized utility industry leader, most recently as the chairwoman of the Utilities Technology Council (UTC), ending a tenure of nearly 10 years on UTC’s board of directors, including four years as chair of the Public Policy Division. She is also the recipient of the Electric Power Research Industry (EPRI) Technology Transfer Award for her work on field area networks and the UTC’s Meehan Award.

Full Spectrum changed its name to Ondas Networks earlier this month. During the past two years, Ondas worked closely with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), UTC, the EPRI and U.S. electric utilities to develop a new mission-critical wireless industrial internet standard.

“I am excited to join the Ondas’ leadership team as we accelerate the adoption of our next-generation, standards-based industrial internet solutions,” said Nelson. “A key driver for joining the company was the alignment between Ondas’ mission and my interest in developing solutions that improve the reliability, efficiency and productivity of mission-critical operations run over large field areas.”
