Security will take center stage at this year’s PMRExpo 27 – 28 November in Cologne, Germany.

The one-day Secure Communication Summit will address protection of human lives, public safety and critical infrastructures (KRITIS) such as energy supply, traffic grids, telecommunication and internet, which are dependent on secure communications systems.

The 27 November summit’s motto is “Securitycritical Communication — Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.” Representatives of manufacturers will contribute, along with a presentation from traffic expert Prof. Dr. Michael Schreckenberg (Universiät Duisburg‐Essen).

Christian Eibl from the Federal Office for Information Security will consider the IT‐security situation of KRITIS. He reports on experiences with lawful reporting obligations of IT occurrences in the area of KRITIS and discusses the issues of considering IT‐security of KRITIS in a theory‐application‐comparison. Bernhard Gschwendtner of Deutsche Bahn will speak about secure communications as a support of processes concerning train operations. Klaus Gräser from Schnoor Industrieelektronik will speak on black out secure communications.

A session titled “Social Media and Emergency Apps: Image vs. Secure Communication” will be addressed by Bernhard Harz from Berliner Feuerwehr. The integration of digital mobile radio in existing IT infrastructures makes room for opportunities of visualizing grid elements in the digital mobile radio system. Michael Fertig from Hytera Mobilfunk will speak on the topic, followed by a podium discussion.

The presentations at the Secure Communication Summit will be simultaneously interpreted into either German or English.
