Bird agreed to sell its Radio Infrastructure Products Division (RFIP), formerly known as TX RX Systems, to the Combilent Group. Combilent USA will operate under the TX RX Systems name from its U.S. headquarters in Angola, New York.

Financial details were not disclosed. The RFIP division includes products and services for requirements for VHF, UHF, 700/800/900 MHz transmitter combiners, receive multicouplers, filters, duplexers and tower top amplifiers (TTAs). The new combined entity will provide standard products and services as well as nonstandard/noncatalog solutions to customers with unique needs.

Bird will retain its coverage enhancement products and services including its bidirectional amplifiers (BDAs) and distributed antenna systems (DAS). These products are a key part of Bird’s coverage enhancement and in-building product and services portfolio. The complete product offering includes off-air repeaters, signal boosters, fiber DAS systems and monitoring solutions.

“We believe that Combilent and TX RX are better together and can become stronger in the marketplace as a team versus being competitors,” said Terry Grant, Bird president. “The new combined group will provide leadership and innovation to the radio infrastructure industry by offering their customers high-quality superior RF products and solutions.”

Bird will focus its efforts and resources on the core market segments of coverage enhancement products, off-air testing, machine-to-machine (M2M) sensors, and test and measurement products.
