ICCRA Becomes Independent Not-for-Profit Organization

International Critical Control Rooms Alliance (ICCRA) announced it will to become an independent organization. ICCRA is the former Control Rooms Working Group of TCCA.

ICCRA has been incorporated as a not-for-profit company in England. ICCRA established a small board of directors that will expand over time to provide leadership from across the critical control rooms industry, said Peter Prater, ICCRA chairman.

“I’m delighted that the growth and strength of ICCRA means that the group can now stand alone as an entity separate to TCCA,” and Tony Gray, TCCA chief executive. “We will of course continue to work closely with the organization, and wish ICCRA every success in addressing the requirements of the many thousands of people worldwide who work in mission-critical control rooms delivering vital services for us all.”

The alliance revised its membership rates with operator memberships — individual members from organizations providing critical control room services — now free. A commercial membership for individuals who receive compensation for providing products and/or services to critical control rooms is set at £180 (US$233) per year. Corporate membership packages will be announced in the future. ICCRA will honor membership that was signed while the alliance was operating under the TCCA.

“ICCRA recognizes and applauds the support it has received from TCCA for the past years,” Prater said. “Without the foresight of TCCA and its belief in us we would not be where we are today. ICCRA looks forward to the opportunity to take its own path now and is excited by what the future holds. One thing is for certain, the relationship between the two organizations is a vital one as our interests of course include the mobile communications demanded by critical control rooms across the globe.”

In 2017, ICCRA launched a project to drive the standardization of critical control room technical interfaces for public protection and disaster relief (PPDR) organizations.
