Axon Resells FirstNet Service with Body Camera

Axon said public-safety agencies can buy the Axon Body 3 with FirstNet connectivity directly from Axon, which executives said is the first company to resell First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) services as a part of its product offering. Axon's latest body camera, Axon Body 3, is Long Term Evolution (LTE) enabled.

"The more we can connect public safety to the FirstNet network platform, the more we can help protect the men and women that dedicate their lives to keeping us safe," said Chris Sambar, senior vice president, AT&T FirstNet. “That's why having public-safety-focused companies like Axon directly connecting the public-safety community to FirstNet is such a critical next step. Combining FirstNet's reliable connectivity with the Axon Body 3 will help law enforcement officers capture and relay critical events back as they happen without having to worry if they're in range of their vehicle's Wi-Fi system or waiting to dock the device."

The body camera is not listed among the devices and accessories on firstnet.com.

Tracing the entire data path of one of these Long Term Evolution (LTE)-capable cameras through the AT&T commercial LTE network servers then on into the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet)-dedicated core servers and covert splitters, the queuing servers with real-time backup, and then on to the sponsoring law enforcement agency CAD systems and those of other agencies they share video with in any joint response situation would be a good exercise to conduct as part of a privacy impact assessment. FIND MY CAMERA If one of your cameras goes missing, simply remotely locate the lost device and even wipe it of its content.

This technology might give new meaning to the phrase LTE dead zones.
