PMRExpo 2018, held 27 – 29 November in Cologne, Germany, attracted 4,400 visitors and 232 exhibitors including 73 global companies. The German North Rhine-Westphalia’s State Minister for Internal Affairs Herbert Reul opened this year’s PMRExpo.

For the first time, the Secure Communications Summit was centered around the topic of control centers on the last day of the event. The challenges, trends, concepts and scenarios of the future were presented and discussed in all event formats. Themes included the future of security-critical communications, secure communications in various user industries, the future of new 5G technology, hybrid networks and Long Term Evolution (LTE), BOS digital radio, broadband applications for indoor radio systems and the IT security situation in critical infrastructures.

In addition to its continuous internationalization in recent years, PMRExpo also drew more representatives from energy providers, transport companies and classic industrial fields on top of the usual visitors from the security and emergency services.

“Even though BOS continues to dominate, we’re reaching an increasing number of industries and operators of critical infrastructures at PMRExpo,” said Thomas Sartorius of Holmberg. “The trade fair is also ideal for bringing new companies into our personal network.”

Open to all visitors, the seven expert forums in the trade fair hall attracted a large audience and many speakers from Germany and abroad. The exhibition space increased to 4,700 square meters.

“Both qualitatively and quantitatively, the leads we gained at PMRExpo 2018 surpasses all previous years,” said Christian Cielinski of Panorama Antennas. “And the leads spanned the globe, from Iceland to Turkey. We spoke to people from all over Europe, especially Scandinavia and Central and Eastern Europe.”
