Wednesday, February 20, 2019 | Comments

Teltronic and local partner Comunitel Radiocomunicaciones are modernizing the communications system employed by buses in Jaén, Spain. The Autobuses Castillo, public transport firm in the Andalusian city, relied on both companies for its previous system, a five-tone professional mobile radio (PMR) network that remained fully operational and functional for more than two decades meet communications needs.

After tests and developments to keep characteristics of the previous network, the system was migrated to Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) technology that includes 44 onboard radios, four base stations, a repeater and three portable radios. Autobuses Castillo maintained the valued characteristics of the previous system, and the DMR system will provide improvements such as higher audio quality, encryption for greater security of communications and larger autonomy of the inspectors’ portable equipment, as well as the possibility to implement new capabilities, such as multisite functionality, in the future.
