Avtec, Motorola Test P25 ISSI/CSSI Interoperability Outside CAP

Avtec and Motorola Solutions completed wireline connectivity testing between Avtec’s Scout console subsystem and the Motorola Astro Project 25 (P25) digital trunked radio system. The testing was completed Feb. 20 at the Motorola Test Laboratory in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Among the features verified were advanced encryption standard (AES) encryption; group, unit and emergency calls; unit alerts; and console over subscriber priority.

Avtec said it is the first vendor to complete the Project 25 Technology Interest Group (PTIG) Inter RF Subsystem Interface (ISSI)/Console Subsystem Interface (CSSI) Non-Compliance Assessment Program (CAP) interoperability test. The tests are outside the P25 CAP program, which officially tests interoperability among P25 products.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is planning ISSI and CSSI conformance testing through the CAP program using the Department of Interior’s Denver-based P25 laboratory.

“The success of the CSSI testing demonstrates Avtec’s ongoing commitment to the open standards that allow thousands of LMR subscribers nationwide to orchestrate their missions and make informed decisions when responding to emergency situations,” said Avtec’s Senior Director of Product Management John Locatelli. “Mission orchestrators need to feel confident that their dispatch communications will be clear and reliable — whether they are working from their main command center or from a mobile unit rolling into a neighboring locality.”

The testing results are available from the PTIG website.

Moto just bought Avtec. Not mentioned here that they are working together and advertising great teamwork ... because Moto owns them anyway.
