ErvoCom chose Damm Cellular Systems TETRA infrastructure as part of its communications solution for the complete city tram lines in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The tram line will link the municipalities of Sacaba, Cercado, Colcapirhua, Quillacollo, Vinto and Sipe Sipe in the Department of Cochabamba, providing transport services to more than 1 million people.

Damm will deliver 11 outdoor base stations for voice and data communications. Apart from reliability, the flexibility and scalability of the system combined with the open application programming interface (API) were purchase factors. ErvoCom used the open API to integrate its TRAin DISpatcher TRADIS and Train Radio System TRS2090.

“Damm’s TetraFlex solution is the perfect fit for the needs of this railway project,” said Patrick Vogt, ErvoCom International CEO. “ErvoCom was able to smoothly implement the Damm TetraFlex interface, allowing for seamless interaction between ErvoCom’s radio dispatcher solutions and DAMM's TETRA base stations. By combining the high reliability of DAMM's TETRA base stations and the innovation of ErvoCom’s Train Dispatcher, the customer benefits from a best-in-class communications solution.”

The TRS2090 will transmit all voice and data for the passenger information, public announcement and emergency intercom systems to the operation control center (OCC). ErvoCom’s TRADIS will enable communications between the OCC and the train driver, passengers and service staff.

Bolivia’s public works, services and housing ministry (MOPSV) commissioned the rail project. ErvoCom collaborated with Swiss-Spanish joint venture Joca-Molinari and BÄR Bahnsicherung to deliver the project, which began in August 2017 and is expected to be completed by August 2020.
