DMR Tier 2 Network from Hytera Used During Russian Youth Event
Tuesday, March 19, 2019 | Comments

Hytera supplied a Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Tier 2 solution for Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief (EMERCOM) to provide radio communications and secure public safety during Winter Universiade 2019, which took place 2 – 12 March in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.

Winter Universiade is an international student and youth competition, held under the auspices of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) at sub-zero temperatures. To ensure professional and reliable communications in harsh weather conditions and meet daily needs of EMERCOM, the company deployed its DMR Tier 2 infrastructure, radios, receive-only ear loop and remote speaker waterproof microphone.

In recent years, Hytera has been involved in large events such as G20 Summit, BRICS Summit 2017, FIFA World Cup 2018 and APEC 2018.

Glad to see that they used Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) radios. As an alternative, they could have opted for some other digital amateur radio standard such as Yaesu Fusion or Icom's D-Star. In my view they did the best, because DMR tends to be most cost effective thankfully to cheap Chinese radios compared with Japanese ones.
