FirstNet Seeks New Board Member, CEO

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), on behalf of the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet), is seeking a new board member for a seat that will become vacant in August. Board member Teri Takai’s position expires in August.

The 15-member FirstNet board includes 12 nonpermanent members, the secretary of Homeland Security, U.S. Attorney General and director of the Office of Management and Budget.

Prospective candidates must have expertise or experience in at least one of the following areas: public safety, network, technical and financial. The deadline for applications is April 18. More information is available here.

In addition, FirstNet is seeking a CEO. The ideal candidate will provide executive leadership and shaping of the technology and the reinvestment strategy for the nationwide public-safety broadband network (NPSBN), the job posting said. The CEO serves as the principal NTIA senior executive responsible for all operations of FirstNet.

In September, former CEO Mike Poth left FirstNet, and Edward Parkinson was named acting CEO.
