Kathy Nelson, Ondas Networks director of technical product marketing and industry relations, was appointed as a board member of the WiMAX Forum.

The WiMAX Forum certifies and promotes the compatibility and interoperability of broadband wireless products based on IEEE standard 802.16. As a member of the board, Nelson will coordinate with other members to advance and encourage engagement with private wireless network solutions and standards including the narrow channel standard revision, IEEE 802.16s.

IEEE 802.16s enables mission-critical internet of things (MC-IoT) operators in rail, aviation, utility, oil and gas, and other critical markets to use licensed radio frequencies for secure and reliable connectivity.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the WiMAX Forum, joining a group of members that share similar interests in creating and driving the adoption of new wireless communications solutions, including our FullMAX solution, through a multivendor, collaborative ecosystem,” said Nelson. “The MC-IoT market is advancing rapidly and requires solutions capable of keeping pace with demands for new applications such as edge computing. The WiMAX Forum is able to continuously advance existing standards and create new solutions through the coordination and cooperation of multiple industry participants. Through this structure, the growth of the mission-critical communications market can be accelerated, and more opportunities will emerge for companies that are building to the standard, including Ondas Networks.”

Through the WiMAX Forum, Ondas Networks will also gain the resources to become certified for the Aeronautical Mobile Airport Communication System (AeroMACS). With AeroMACS certification and access to other AeroMACS manufacturers in the forum, Ondas Networks can further establish the company’s technology portfolio and position in the aviation sector as a supplier of reliable data communications solutions.
