No 10-Year License Renewals for T-Band Licensees
Thursday, April 25, 2019 | Comments

The Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA) said the FCC is not issuing customary 10-year license renewals for T-band (470 – 512 MHz) licensees, as it contemplates next steps for the future of the spectrum. Congress mandated that the FCC begin auctioning the spectrum in 2021.

Therefore, the band may be off limits for public-safety and business/industrial licenses well before license expiration if 10-year licenses are renewed. As such, the FCC will not process T-band license renewal applications in the interim, and all T-band renewal applications will be placed in a pending status.

However, assuming applications are timely filed and remain pending at the FCC, operations in the T-band spectrum can continue in full compliance with FCC rules.
