The FirstNet Association changed its name to the Public Safety Broadband Technology Association (PSBTA) to avoid confusion between the association and the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet).

The group said its mission to be the link between FirstNet, network developers, innovators and end users hasn’t changed. The association has more than 500 members and has provided nine regional forums to the public-safety community across the country.
“The new name of Public Safety Broadband Technology Association clearly defines our direction and mission, which is to support the growth of the FirstNet ecosystem,” said PSBTA President Al Gillespie.
