Indonesian Mining Company Deploys Damm TETRA Network

Damm Cellular Systems and systems partner Wellracom began an upgrade from an analog system to a digital TETRA solution for PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara, a mining company in Indonesia.

Damm has delivered five two-carrier outdoor base stations for voice and data communications for the entire mining operation. Key factors for choosing DAMM were the cost efficiency and scalability of the system combined with the open application programming interface (API).

Workers and managers in mines rely heavily on communications to keep the business moving. This means that access to information and communications anytime and anywhere is key both for workers and managers.

“The challenge in the mining industry in Indonesia is to secure communication 24/7 to minimize any disruption to operations,” said Wellracom Group’s managing director.

To facilitate the gradual migration to the new TETRA system, Amman Mineral deployed a TetraFlex Group Bridge, which enables communications between the two different technologies. This has ensured a seamless migration and smooth integration. The site will eventually become fully digitalized.

Amman Mineral operates the Batu Hijau mine located in the West Sumbawa regency, West Nusa Tenggara province. The Batu Hijau mine is the second-largest copper and gold mine in Indonesia.
