Rinaldo Named Acting NTIA Administrator
Friday, May 10, 2019 | Comments

Diane Rinaldo became acting assistant secretary for communications and information for the Department of Commerce and administrator of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), following the abrupt resignation of David Redl.

Rinaldo formerly was deputy assistant secretary for communications and information at the Department of Commerce.

NTIA is the executive branch agency principally responsible for advising the president on telecommunications and information policy. Redl’s resignation came days after he made a speech at the Satellite Industry Association (SIA) Leadership Dinner saying the current approach of “piecemeal, band-by-band spectrum policymaking is not sustainable.”

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai praised Redl in a statement.

Focusing on cybersecurity and technology policy, Rinaldo has had extensive experience in government and the private sector throughout her career.
