UTC Annual Conference to Focus on 5G, Spectrum, Grid Modernization

Cybersecurity, utilities and 5G, grid modernization, spectrum access for wireless deployment, grid resilience, rural broadband deployment by utilities, and the growing convergences between the energy and telecom sectors are among the topics that will be discussed at the Utilities Technology Council (UTC) Telecom and Technology conference June 17-21 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Hundreds of utility executives, engineers, vendors and other utility and technology officials will participate in the highly anticipated event. Confirmed speakers include Joao Torres, CEO of EDP Distribuicao of Portugal; Malia Hodges, chief information officer (CIO) of Oncor Electric Delivery; Energy Storage Association CEO Kelly Speakes-Backman; Common Ground Alliance President CEO and President Sarah Magruder Lyle; and North American Transmission Forum CEO Tom Galloway.

The conference will feature eight educational tracks on the following topics:
• Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and utility automation
• Using data for innovative telecom services
• Converged systems for smarter communities
• Business drivers of telecom infrastructure
• Telecom options for utility operators
• Utility assets and broadband options
• Connective security solutions
• Utility spectrum policies
