Florida Police Department Joins FirstNet

The Fort Pierce (Florida) Police Department joined the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) for public safety. The Fort Pierce Police Department is using FirstNet on its department-issued phones and hot spots.

“This tech upgrade equips our personnel with new capabilities and reliable access to critical information while in the field, so we can better serve those who live, work and visit Fort Pierce,” a statement said.

The network provides the department a nationwide communications platform to efficiently and effectively coordinate emergency responses across agencies and jurisdictions. The department also cited planned increases in coverage and capacity, enabling it to better respond to emergencies in all areas of Fort Pierce and across the state.

“A disaster can strike at any given time, and it is critical that our officers be able to communicate with other first responders during a crisis,” said Fort Pierce Police Chief Diane Hobley-Burney.
