BearCom, MCA Make Further Two-Way Radio Shop Acquisitions
Tuesday, June 25, 2019 | Comments

The acquisitions of two-way radio dealers continues, with two large mobile communications firms — BearCom Group and Mobile Communications America (MCA) — as the main buyers. Both companies are Motorola Solutions channel partners.

BearCom bought Total Radio, with locations in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, expanding the nationwide company’s resources throughout Oklahoma and the Southwest. Total Radio is a Motorola Solutions platinum channel partner, a Motorola service station (MSS), a Motorola representative (MR), a Motorola federal agent and a service elite specialist. Total Radio serves a broad customer base including public safety, oil and gas, education, construction, hospitality and utilities.

BearCom Group also acquired Comtronics, with locations in south and north Boston, strengthening BearCom’s resources throughout New England and the Northeast. Comtronics is a Motorola Solutions channel partner, MSS, MR, and a service elite specialist delivering reliable wireless communications solutions since 1990. Comtronics serves public safety, education, construction, hospitality and utilities.

“The addition of Comtronics to our organization is a milestone in BearCom’s growth initiative,” said Bob Craycraft, CEO and president of BearCom. “Their reputation and commitment to serving Boston and the greater New England area is a reflection of their leadership and teamwork. We are excited to integrate this team into the BearCom family, and to continue to support and grow our public-safety and commercial markets throughout the Northeast. Comtronic’s people are very professional and customer driven, whether serving their public-safety or commercial market accounts, and we are thrilled to have them joining our team.”

Terms of the transactions were not announced. BearCom has acquired 20 mobile communications firms since February 2017.

Separately, MCA announced the acquisition of Crosspoint Communications, a full-service wireless integrator in the Southwest. With locations in Texas, Colorado and Arizona, Crosspoint has been a sales and service provider to the commercial and public safety sector for more than 22 years. Crosspoint, formerly known as DFW Communications, was established in 1996 as an authorized Motorola Solutions partner. With 120 employees and nine locations, Crosspoint specializes in the design, installation and maintenance of two-way voice and data communications.

"We are excited to leverage the MCA footprint and increase our portfolio of solutions to better serve our customers and employees,” said Craig Sikes, chief operating officer (COO) of Crosspoint. “Our common culture of putting service first makes this a perfect fit."

The addition of Crosspoint Communications expands MCA’s geographic footprint to more than 50 locations across Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. MCA will continue to grow through the acquisitions of established Motorola Solutions partners, a statement said.

This is MCA’s sixth acquisition in the past year. WJ Partners, a private investment firm, acquired MCA in 2013.
