FCC Reports on PSAP, Cell Site Outages from Hurricane Dorian

The FCC reported that one public-safety answering point (PSAP), Dorchester Dispatch Center in South Carolina, was down Sept. 6 with calls rerouted to the Summerville, South Carolina, PSAP following Hurricane Dorian. By Sept 7, no outages affecting PSAPs in the disaster area were reported.

On Sept. 6, 3.8% of cell sites were out of service in North Carolina. In South Carolina, 4.6% of cell sites were out of service following the Category 1 hurricane.

On Sept. 7, Dare County, North Carolina, and Charleston, South Carolina, had the largest number of cell sites damaged. The percentage of cell sites out was less than 1% in South Carolina and about 2.1% in North Carolina.
