NFPA Seeking Input on Consolidated Standard
Wednesday, October 23, 2019 | Comments

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is seeking public input on a new standard that would consolidate two previous NFPA standards.

Under a plan approved by the NFPA Standards Council, the association plans to combine NFPA 1221, Standard for the Installation, Maintenance and Use of Emergency Service Communications Systems, and NFPA 1061, Standard for Public Safety Telecommunications Personnel Professional Qualifications, into the new NFPA 1225, Standards for Emergency Services Communications.

Public input on the new standard is due Nov. 15.

In a blog post, Safer Buildings Coalition (SBC) Executive Director Alan Perdue said the SBC’s Codes and Standards Work Group is soliciting very specific code change proposals along with detailed justification for the proposed change and a concise reason statement from interested parties. After evaluation by the work group, the group will prepare a submittal under the SBC umbrella.
